Euroring has an extensive supply program. Because the applications are very diverse we have subdived them into.

Naval piston rings

Industrial piston rings

The technical development of piston rings has been extended very strongly during the last 20 years. The operational properties of a piston ring are determined by the used basic material, surface treatment and coating, ring type and slot type.

The primary function of the piston ring is sealing, whether or not with controlled leakage. In adittion to that the piston ring also posesses functions relating to the regulation of oil and lubrication and to the heat exchange of the piston to the cylinder wall.

Herewith the piston ring largely determines the overall efficiency of your engine andhas to perform under extreme conditions. In technical applications the piston ring serves as a dynamic, flexible sealing element. With this the pressure can be steered and controlled into areas of high ΔP and Δt.

Leakage

Possible leakages develop along the contact area, side areas and the slot of the piston ring. To prevent these leakages and to guarantee gas tightness and proper contact a good contact pressure is of extreme importance. This contact pressure is obtained by the internal tension of the piston ring and in some events by an extrabuilt in expansion spring. Gas and hydrostatic pressures also attend to additional contact pressure. Of importance is the accuracy in the finishing of the ring in its tolerances and contact area. The area where the ring ends meet is called the "gap". In many engines the design of thegap is straight. Specialgap constructions, such as gas tight, are applied in large and medium size combustion engines in ships, compressors and hydraulic equipment.

EURORING guarantees high quality end products by applying modern production methods and a constant quality monitoring during the whole process.

Oil regulation

When insufficient oil is applied to a working piston in a combustion cylinder, unnecessary wear will occur. This can cause irreparable damage.

On the other hand when to much oil is applied, it will have a negative effect onto the efficiency of your engine. The combustion will be effected, oil consumption will increase and the piston ring will start "leakiing". The result will be that the efficiency of the engine decreases andcarbon build up in the combustion space. Therefore a proper supply and dosing of the oil is essential to the engine.

Heat Transfer

The piston ring is subjected to high operating temperatures. These high temperatures will partly be dissipated via the piston ring to the cylinder wall. Sopiston rings can help to prevent high piston temperatures, amongst others.
